About

Lee University’s Student Media includes the Vindagua (yearbook) and Lee Clarion (newspaper and website). Each staff works closely together with the Photo Team to produce a quality end product and great resource for the campus. Student Media strives to portray the diversity at Lee University and develop many skills within staff members.

As an editor students will learn to work cohesively as a team, develop writing and copyediting techniques in their staff writers and improve their leadership skills. Each section editor for the Vindagua has the responsibility to design each page on their section (Life, Athletics, Organizations, etc.), assign stories to staff writers and be prepared to write some stories as well. Editors for the Clarion must work closely with their writers to produce stories for each issue and have opportunities to write stories themselves. All editors develop the abilities to edit, manage and lead as well as learning more about design.

To become a staff writer, you must be enrolled in the Lee Clarion or Vindagua Practicum. As a student in the Practicum, you will be write for a section of the yearbook or newspaper and are expected to produce the stories assigned to you. For the Clarion practicum, you may pitch ideas to your section editor. You do not have to a Communication student to enroll in the Practicum, and each student will have the opportunity to gain portfolio-worthy clips.

As a contributing writer, you may express interest in writing to an editor and receive story assignments as they can be given.
